Hello,
I am new to this forum looking for ways to improve management of CD symptoms for my 29 yo daughter. (She has a newborn baby boy so she is a bit busy since December.)
She has applied for social security disability twice now - using her chronic CD and a herniated disc in her lumbar spine. She is a systems analyist works at a computer fixing problems remotely when possible but sometimes must stoop, bend, carry heavy computer equipment when needed.
I finally called an attorney who told me because of her age (30 yo) that it will be almost imposible to get disablity based on CD alone. The attorney says we will require a letter from the GI saying her CD does render her completely disabled.
Has anyone in this forum had success in obtaining soc sec disability based on inflammatory bowel disease?
My daughter was diagnosed in 2015 after 3 years of symptoms. She currently takes lialda 3 x day, pataprozale 2 times a day, Canasa suppositories 2 times a day (when flaring), 14 supplements at night which help her a great deal to become "regular". Uses anorectal cream for rectal pain / bleeding, prednisone when the Lialda is not helping manage CD episodes. She has had 2 banding procedures on rectal prolapses. Currently needs another banding procedure to help with rectal prolaspe / pain / bleeding.
I thought I would mention that her dad died of colon cancer in 2005 after many years of IBD symptoms, which I do not believe he truly tried to medically manage properly.
Many thanks,
Mia
