Support

I'm new to the community, and pretty new to CD (diagnosed in 2016).  I'm a 57 yo female.  I've been looking through the community forum, reading posts, replying to a few.  I was very surprised, however, when I saw that very few people replied to postings, though it appeared many people were reading the posts.  I'm imagined that this community would be a place in which people interact, share information, and provide support.  I hope that will be the case.  I think IBD is incredibly difficult, and I know that I need to be able to reach out, ask for and receive support from people who understand what I am going through.

Does the forum count every person who clicks on a person's post as having "read" that post?  Are people who click on other people's posts actually reading them, or do they scan them, see that they are not applicable to their experiences and move on?  I can understand that, of course, because not everyone's experience is something that another person can relate to.  If the forum counts "views" as just basically scrolling through topics, however, it is somewhat misleading to those who have posted and are hoping for replies to see (for example) 256 "views" and no replies to their post.

Just one person's opinion, but maybe the metrics are off.

Hi crisanderson
Any one who clicks on a post is recorded in the “views” column.   We certainly hope that people are reading the post but we have not done a survey to ask if everyone who clicks on a post actually fully reads it.    If people feel a connection or have information to share they will post a response or comment.  If they don’t have anything to share on the topic they will not respond.   Some people gain value from reading other people experiences.

I first found this website, and realised that anybody hardly replied to my posts or took forever to reply. Then i found crohnsforum.com and it is a lot more helpful and useful than this site.

I have also wondered the same.  I am a little disheartened by the lack of replies....I agree IBD is very challenging and support is so welcomed.
Do you know of any other forums ?
