UC & Xeljanz

Mon, July 01, 2019 2:31 PM

I've been experiencing UC flares a little over a year.  I'm on Prednisone almost last 3 months.  Finally, my doc prescribed Xelijanz.  I was not keen to take it because of possible side effects such as increasing infections, supressing immune systems, etc., but I need to be better soon.  So far, I'm on the medication for a week in addition to Prednisone.  I'm not experiencing any side effects of Xelijanz, and not sure yet if UC flares are getting better than before taking Xelijanz.  I understand it may take a while until I may feel better again with this med.

I'm wondering if anyone who is taking Xelijanz can tell me how long it takes to feel the difference and when you felt normal, like normal bathroom trips, no abdominal pain.  Also, any side effects you experienced?

Hi Lbrown02,

Xeljanz did not work at all for me after two months.  No changes in my colon after confirming with colonoscopy...  I'll be on Humira.  Hope this works for me.

I started taking Xeljanz 1 week ago.  I am not experiencing any side effects other than a slight rash on my right cheek.  I am hoping for good results from this medication.  Have been in a flare for months.

So far, I'm not really experiencing the specific side effects, but I feel something is trying to work in my body...
