New to this forum and looking for anyone with similar issues...I was diagnosed with CD 4 years ago. Been on Remicade and Mesalamine for basically the entire time. Recently I developed pretty bad low back pain with sciatica and was diagnosed with spondyloarthropathy(spA). Primary treatment for spA is NSAIDs, which I can't take due to the CD. The Remicade is great for managing my CD but not the back pain.
Any tips or tricks for reducing inflammation without heavy duty meds? Trying to avoid oral steroids at all costs (if you know you know)... thanks in advance!!

I've been reading about how a low fat vegan diet (no animal products) with focus on fruits, vegetables, whole grains is helpful in reducing inflammation. I'm in the process of getting a diagnosis and want to take as little medication as possible, so this kind of diet is a possibility. I'll be discussing it with my gastroenterologist

Hello Chelsea,
I understand the strife and struggle of not being able to to take NSAID's and definitely understand the problems with oral steroids.... my only advice I could give to you is maybe try mild stretches and exercise. Stretching and exercising has been known to reduce inflammation levels in the body as a natural way of doing so. I know it may sound like a tough venture with the sciatica involved, but I'm sure there are some exercise and stretches that you could possibly utilize that would not affect things that badly!
I am wishing you all the best, you got this! I hope this advice helped a little bit.
