Hair loss

Thu, July 21, 2022 7:43 PM

My daughter has been on Apriso for a few years. On and off prednisone since November last dose 5/27 and also mesalamine and hydrocortisone enemas. She just finished her last loading dose of Entvyio and after her 2nd one started experiencing hair loss and very itchy skin. Do these symptoms subside after awhile. My son has been on Entvyio for 3 years after reaction to remicade and is doing great with no side effects so this is all new to us. Her UC under control but the hair loss is very upsetting she is only 20.

people with IBD have reported hair loss when taking some medications to treat IBD. However, there have been no in depth studies carried out in this area.

Common side effects listed for both mesalazine and methotrexate include hair loss. However, in the study1 mentioned earlier in this article mesalazine and anti-TNF medications were associated with lower odds of hair loss. Talk to your doctor if you are worried.

Hi. I was on Remicade in high school and had a reaction to it that consisted of very itchy rashes and large amounts of hair loss. The doctors determined that the hair loss was due to the rashes being on my scalp as well. I was able to get a topical steroid to treat the rashes that helped, but I ultimately decided to switch medications becuase I did not want to lose anymore hair and did not want to do the topical steroid long term as the rash did not completley resolve. After switching medications I had full regrowth of all my hair. Hope this helps and good luck!
