Anxiety!!!

Mon, January 21, 2019 12:45 PM

Ever since I started having issues with my Chron's disease, I have gotten bad anxiety about going places, especially in cars. When there is no bathroom that I know I can get to right away, I freak out with anxiety, which makes my symptoms a lot worse than they would be if I was calm. I was just wondering if anyone had the same problem and how they got better - what medicines are safe for my stomach and severe anxiety? I would rather not get on real anti-depressants because of the bad side effects and possible addiction.

It looks like you have several issues rolled into one. Suggestions: always go to the bathroom before you start your trip, and also whenever you stop. Wear panytliners in case Of accidents, or depends if need be.  If possible, don’t travel right after a meal. Talk to your GI about meds for the diarhea.  Opioids will bind you up. I use tincture of opium. It’s expensive, but it works. Whenever possible, drive yourself. Then you don’t have to ask someone else to make a stop. For longer trips pack a change of clothes.
