Hiya. I just wanted to ditto that alcohol always aggravates my condition, too. It's tempting, especially after a physically painful and emotionally exhausting day or week, but the chemistry of it just infuriates the symptoms. For relief, look into medical marijuana. It has compelling research that indicates a reduction of IBS/Crohns symptoms. We're all human. We all need a fix or indulgence in something - be it religion, health food, cheat food, or drugs. If your current fix is alcohol, maybe switching to the lesser of two evils will be beneficial in this circumstance. At least dig into the research a bit and try to make an informed decision - just wanted to present the option.

Hi UltraV,
I just read your post --and it sounds rough. Just wanted to say I'm sorry you were going through that. Looks like you posted a couple weeks ago so I hope things have improved since.
I don't know how it is for you, but for me alcohol is the one thing that always clearly worsens my uc flares. I understand the urge to turn to it for comfort and sleep, but, as you say, that also be a vicious cycle by aggravating the flare symptoms. Of course with pain and difficult sleep anyone would struggle to stay positive--and I hope the doctor was able to help you with better solutions for sleep. Go easy on yourself. Sending hope your way.
