Hand washing

This is probably a small issue.  My partner has Crohn’s disease and thus spends much of his time in the bathroom.  I’m used to this.  The only thing that bothers me is that he refuses to wash his hands after going to the bathroom.  When I ask him if he washed his hands his response is always that he already spends enough time in the bathroom.  He feels like I’m shaming him whenever I ask him to wash his hands after going to the bathroom.  I just want him to have healthy habits and not get us sick.  I’m quite bothered by this but I don’t want him to feel like I’m shaming him.  Should I just let this go? I know he suffers a lot daily already due to crohn’s and is sensitive about it.  This is probably a small issue compare to other people’s.  I just have a hard time not letting it bother me.  Should people with crohn’s be exempt from hand washing since they spent so much time in the bathroom already?  That doesn’t make sense to me but I understand how it’d be a hassle to do it every single time.  Do others living with crohn’s also feel as he does?  How should I approach this?
