I’m 25 I got diognosed with Colitis in January and was put on Pentasa I was doing really well recently had a flare up but seem okay now I was just wondering everything seems okay but I do pass blood most times I go to the loo I was just wondering if that was long term  passing blood could that cause anything else ?

When I had colitis I had perpetual diarhea. What I didn't realize was I was passing blood constantly.which made me severely anemic. When that got diagnosed I had five pints of blood transfused. Eventually I was getting three pints a month. get your blood levels checked.

Hi Kieran, 

It's a while since you posted, so I am hoping you have stopped passing blood now, but if you haven't I would say you need to speak to your doctor about it. 

I am on Pentasa too. But after my intial diagnosis, when I was also passing blood, I was put on three different medications (steroids, azathioprine and pentasa). I believe the steroids and the azathioprine were the hardcore ones that sorted me out and made the bleeding stop, whilst the pentasa is the maintenance one to keep me going over the years without too many issues. So it may be you need a boost with a more powerful drug for a little bit as well as the pentasa, or possibly further investigation. 

Hopefully you are sorted by now, but I saw nobody had responded to your post, so I thought I would in case you are still waiting for a reply.
