COVID-19 triggering a flare?

Fri, April 23, 2021 4:47 PM

Hello, when the pandemic started I was really concerned about catching COVID-19 because I wondered if it would cause my Crohn's to flare up. I've had crohn's for over 20 years and had a bowel resection and a bowel revision. I've been in remission for over 7 years and off meds for 7 years. I ended up coming down with covid in early December 2020 and it was a fairly mild case. Then in mid-February I had a major flare and ended up in the ER. Thankfully a CTscan showed no blockage but definite inflammation at the surgery site. Sooo, the Crohns is back. Since the timing is so close to my having covid I'm wondering if it triggered an immune response and flared the Crohn's. Has anyone else experienced the same or read anything about it?

I haven't had a similar experience, but i wish you to stay safe. I believe vaccination can lower the impacts caused by Covid.19.
