J-pouch Excision (removal)

Sat, March 07, 2020 2:30 AM

I have a failed pouch that's been treated with an ileostomy, but I get painful fistulas and abscesses.  Anyone have an excision that's willing to share their experience?  What little I find on removing j-pouch shows a high complication rate.

am also interested in any non surgical options for abscesses and fistulas.

Hi there- I don't have any helpful information for you but I'm interested in your experience.  I just joined this website because I had a J-pouch in 1993 and I have had no problems whatsoever. Until January of this year. I have had recurrent abscesses (or maybe the same one- don't know) and due to this coronavirus situation, I can't get scoped until June. I don't know if it's UC come back or it's a problem with my pouch? I thought maybe I'd get on here and see if others have had the same problem and looks like they have/are.  OMG-- I am not happy about seeing this... but anyway, I hope you find some answers and some help. Amy
