Lapararotomy (adhesion & cocoon removal)

Mon, May 18, 2020 9:12 AM

Hi all, My name is Lloyd and I recently underwent emergency surgery for a bowel obstruction caused by scar tissue adhesions connected to my small bowel. Despite being almost 3 weeks post-op I found myself unfortunately experiencing a 14 day post-op ileus. I was discharged from hospital yesterday finally but with a distinct lack of advice on how I should proceed to manage my diet. Im looking for advice from people who have experienced a similar situation or surgical procedure on how I should mould my diet at such an immediate standpoint. Is it normal to continue to experience nausea and diarrhoea 3 weeks post-op and around a week after initially opening my bowels? Dietary wise at such a beginners stage Im currently eating, yoghurts, bananas, chicken soup, mash potato, ice cream, jellies, Any advice what the easiest next step would be to comfort my bowels?Ant replies and added advice would genuinely be life changing, thank you for reading.Lloyd
