Giving Space

Wed, November 20, 2019 12:28 PM

Hi there,

my best friend was diagnosed last year after a bad flare-up and now the past 3 and a half weeks he's been going through another flare-up the worst since his diagnosis. Just wondering about how different people cope with their illness? I haven't seen him since his flare-up and he seems just want space to rest and recover and when he's ready he said he will talk to me. This is different than other times he has had small flare-ups but it's his disease and he gets to deal how he wants to. Should I still check in every once in a while or will that just be a nuisance? It would be good to hear other people's experiences with loved ones who have crohn's or UC

I would say give him his space but stay in touch thru text and social media.  Maybe drop off a casserole or meal of some sort.  Sometimes I’m just too tired to make dinner so I stock up on quality frozen meals.  Offer him when he feels up to  it to go out for a coffee or other beveridge.
