Psyllium Husk Powder

Mon, November 05, 2018 9:20 PM

Hi Everyone,
I'm new to the group.  My husband was diagnosed with Crohn's disease in 1971, he is now 63 and had his first intestinal resectioning in 2013.  The portion of his small intestine that was removed is responsible for absorbing liquids so he suffers with inconsisten stools, mostly loose and they come on quickly.  The medicine his gastro guy gave him Cholestagel almost killed him by blocking his common bile duct.  After a lot of reading during this time I began trying different probiotics on him and we finally found one that does a pretty good job of helping to tighten things up.  He's been off that prescription since 2014 and doesn't take any others nor has he in the past.  My question is regarding psyllium husk and it's anti diarrhea capabilities.  I know it is commonly used to treat constipation however, there is information of it helping to regulate diarrhea as well.  There were some warnings about its use though so I'm wondering if anybody has tried it, uses it, or knows anything about it.  Thank you in advance.
