Hi All,
Ive been diagnosed with Crohn's for about 8 years and managed the flair up via my diet but after surgery September 2017 to remove the lower and join of the small and large bowel I had been ok and feeling great again.
Iv had a few flair up over the last few months and a colonsocopy has shown I have a narrowing with the usual issues of Crohn's.
I have been advised to gchange my diet to a Low Fibre Diet to help things in my gut and after checking the foods I can eat with LF Im struggling to find foods that I used to eat to help my cycling. Now I used to eat pre ride a breakfest of Wheat Biscuits with numerious berries, Straw, Rasp, Black with Red and Black Currants and on top milled seeds with Semi skimmed milk.
From the advice on LFD it would seem that the only thing in my usual breakfest are the Strawberries and milk.
I like to eat Bananas and flapjack oat bars before and during but again These are to be avoided due to their High Fibre content.
Even a very nice Oaty Banoffee drink made with Oats, Banana, brown sugar, Yogurt and milk is a NO NO so Im really struggling to find foods I can eat pre ride and during the ride.
Does anone have any advice or recipes that I could use to make foods and snacks specifically for my cycling days.
Regards.
Tony.

I too road cycle. I ride up to 100 miles but mostly 30-40. I have UC or did until j pouch 27 years ago. I used to get dizzy during or after intense rides. My naturopath recommend no gluten! High electrolytes and proteins good fats. It worked! I am keto now but probiotics, gluten free, low carbs, high meat, fish, eggs, cheese and veggies have been the ticket. I eat alot of bananas, kiwi avacodo for potasium. Make a protein shake, nature's way alive with pea protein add bananas and almond butter. Wow super energy. I also take fish oil, tumeric with pepper anti inflammation for sure. Only ice my joints, cbd and stretch alot, no way to otc Advil etc. Very bad, no alcohol too. Stay off gluten main thing. Keep on riding it helps a ton!!
