Good Evening all, I hope everyone is trying to stay healthy and Happy, I wanted to know what foods that are working for you, after surgey of the j pouch and take down, and how long does the itching and burning last?

Hi there- I've had a J-pouch since 1993 and haven't had any issues until now and due to the coronavirus situation going on now, it'll be June until I can get some help/information. Anyway, until I started having my current problems, I never knew there were possible complications that could happen with it. I guess I've had a good run- about 27 years...
But back to your question, when I had it done in 1993, I really didn't have any problems- the whole having a temporary osteomy was difficult for a 23 year-old to deal with but once I had the take down it was all good. I discovered early on not to eat a bunch of raw carrots and then spaghettios- yeah don't do that.. a few raw carrots is fine and spaghettios is fine but maybe not all at once. Other than, not really any problem- I know if I eat really greasy stuff it'll run right through but I'm not sick, etc. it's just a fast transit through the ol' GI tract- or what's left of it... I see others have had some complications and I feel really lucky that I have made it this far. Good luck!
