Meeting Young Adults with UC and Crohn's

Mon, July 04, 2016 12:43 PM

Hi Everyone,

My name is Kevin (18) and I was diagnosed with UC 4 months ago. I am trying t meet people in my age group to talk and share experiences with UC and Crohn's.

I find that the support groups are geared towards children, so I figured I post here and see if anyone is interested in creating a young adults goup

Hi! I'm Gianna 17 with Crohns disease. I have had crohns for about 10 years now. I have been on a lot of medications and tube feeds. I have had two major surgeries as well. I still haven't found something that works and because of this I haven't been able to go to school for 5 years. I think a young adult support group would be a great idea. If you ever need to talk about life with Crohns/UC you can email me at gianna051399@gmail.com. Hope you are doing well!

I messaged a coordinator at Vanderbilt Hospital to find out if there are any older teen / young adult support groups that meet regularly in the Nashville area.  So far, I haven't found one but I would like to know if we could start a chapter in the Nashville, Brentwood or Franklin, TN area?  Anyone know of a chapter?

I checked the campus connection site but it is for college age students.  Do you have a group for older teens (16-18) in the Nashville area?  Thank you!

Is there a older teen support group in the Nashville area.  My son is 16 years old and was diagnosed with Crohn's disease 2 years ago.  I really think that a local support group for older teens would be very helpful.

Hey, my name is Allie! I was diagnosed 9 years ago with Crohn's. I've been going through a REALLY tough flare up at the moment. In my whole 9 years of dealing with this disease I've never reached out to people my age who really understand what it means to live with chronic illness. I think it would really benefit me to make some friends who are in the same boat I'm in.

Hi All,
You can connect with other young people on Campus Connection at: http://www.ccfa.org/campus-connection/

You can also find support groups for children, teens and young adult through local CCFA chapters at:  http://www.ccfa.org/chapters/.   The local chapters also have a program called “Power of Two”.  They can hook you up with a patient mentor to talk with about the disease, coping and other issues.

If anyone wants to talk or vent call the IBD Help Center at 888-694-8872.   We are here to listen.

Hi, kevin. I'm cyndll. I'm 23 and was diagnosed with uc 3 years ago. It's frustrating not being able to find other people in our age group with uc or crohns.

Hi yall, my name is Julia and I'm 22. I was diagnosed with aggressive Crohn's when I was 16, so I can help answer questions about living with IBD in high school or college. I've also had an ileostomy and colostomy and used prednisone, 6mp, Remicade, Humira, and soon Vedolusimab, so I can also help with any of those issues.

Hey guys, my name is Shelby. I am an 18 year old that has crohns. I was diagnosed about a year and a half ago and I am still really struggling to get everything under control. It would be nice to talk to people my age about this awful disease.
