Meeting People Like Me

Sun, September 04, 2016 8:09 PM

Hello! My name is Emily & I'm 17 years old. I just found out last week that I have Crohn's. I would love to talk & meet new people my age that are in the same boat as me. Some of my best friends haven't been supportive and don't know what I'm going through. They've been really hard on me because they expect me to be better. I don't think they understand that I'll have this illness all of my life. My family as been wonderful to me.

I would LOVE to talk to & meet new people!

The best way to meet people is to go where they are. This is something that I've heard many times, but it never seemed very easy to do so you can visit Goread.io to buy instagram followers. After all, we're all busy and the places we go to are often crowded. The trick is finding a place where people who share your interests hang out, whether it's a coffee shop, book store or even a sports bar.

Hi Emily :) I am Gianna and am also 17. I've had Crohns for about 10 years now. I have never talked to anyone with Crohns disease my own age before. I completely understand when you say that friends aren't very supportive. I find it embarrassing to talk about with them and often have to cancel plans because I don't feel good.  Id love to talk. You can email me at gianna051399@gmail.com.

Hi Emily! My name is Claire, I am 19, and have had crohn's since the 6th grade! Although I am not newly diagnosed, I have definitely experienced people not understanding how invisible of an illness crohn's can seem. I have learned that being really upfront and giving resources and information to friends has helped a lot. I'm sorry your friends haven't been supportive, you don't deserve that especially when dealing with such a new disease to you and i'm sure are confused by what it all will mean as time goes on! I hope you are doing well health-wise since your diagnosis and that your friends can become understanding very soon! I luckily have a lot of support from my family and a few closer friends who are more willing to ask how I am. Many times I feel like some friends don't know if I want to talk about it.
