Flagyl new compounding

Wed, January 18, 2017 6:16 PM

My 11 yo suffers from fistulizing crohn's (diagnosed 3 years ago) and is currently on Remicade (maximum dose every 5 weeks) , 12.5 mg Methotrexate once a week and he was also recently on a 6 month round of CIPRO, but after elevated liver enzymes our doctor stopped the CIPRO. The surgeon is suggesting he goes back on antibiotics and recommended CIPRO rotating with FLAGYL. My concern is in the past he has not been able to take FLAGYL because of the metallic taste. I have heard that they just came out with a new compounding for FLAGYL that no longer is gritty or metallic.  Has anyone else heard of this or tried it yet?  Thanks
