College

Hi everyone,
I am currently in a flare up while at college, which is very difficult. I am not super close to home and was wondering how others deal with not feeling well and switching medications while away at school. Really any tips about crohns in college would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you!

When you’re going through college, it’s important to remember that you will always be an employee. You’re not going to have the opportunity to get resume services online at sensible rates when you graduate. The best way to make sure that you’re on the right track is to take advantage of the many opportunities that are available to you.

If you haven't already, I would definitely sit down and talk with whoever is in charge of the Academic Accessibility center. This would allow you certain privileges, like going to the bathroom during class or an exam, if youre experiencing symptoms  or having a particularly rough day (privileges may depend on school policy.) It would also let your professors know what's going on (as much as you'd want them to know) so that if you're sick one day with symptoms or something, they can't just fail you for missing a class or an exam or if you need to leave early to take your meds. It may seem small, but it should help a bit with the stress of flaring on campus and having to take meds and all that :)

Check out Campus Connection at: http://www.crohnscolitisfoundation.org/campus-connection/ .   Here you can find other college students.
There are also Crohn’s & Colitis Support Groups on some college campus.   See if there is one on your campus http://www.crohnscolitisfoundation.org/living-with-crohns-colitis/find-a-support-group/
