I’ve had GI problems for as long as I can remember.. immediately needing to go to the bathroom after eating.. When I was dating a guy that lived a state away, I was taking Imodium to stop myself from going to the bathroom to prevent embarrassment!  I ended up causing other problems in my stomach, causing nausea and constipation... I was prescribed miralax... but that didn’t seem to work.. I was then prescribed Linzess... and when that didn’t work, Amitiza was the next option. Both medications caused intense diarrhea which was causing problems while working... as an ER nurse.

Eventually, I was sent to see GI!  An EGD was done and a sono of my gallbladder as well!

My EGD results showed pre-ulcers in my stomach and a diagnosis of IBS. The sono results showed a gallbladder full of stones.. so I had my gallbladder removed and was left with a diagnosis of IBS.

Nothing was done after the diagnosis of IBS and I was left to basically just deal with the alternating constipation and diarrhea which is super frustrating, especially as a nurse!!!

A few  months ago, I decided I was done struggling, I went back to my doctor. Symptoms provided were: constipation, diarrhea, extreme fatigue, intolerance to cold temperatures, the inability to get and stay warm, and dry skin.     I was tested for hypothyroidism.   My thyroid came back absolutely normal!

When my thyroid came back normal, I was sent to GI again..  before seeing GI, I requested that all of my autoimmune labs be drawn.  Everything came back normal. With the exception of my CRP... an inflammatory marker.

Seeing GI:
The basic questions were asked... constipation? Diarrhea? Bleeding? Pain?
I answered what I could and explained all of my symptoms.  He said we would precede with blood tests, a stool sample, and a colonoscopy!
I had by blood drawn that day (Friday) and on Tuesday received the call. “You’re celiac panel came back normal. However...”. Welp... here we go... “Your IBD panel came back suggestive of Crohn’s disease with aggressive disease progression.”
I asked if there was anything I needed to do to help this.. they said just to continue doing what I’m doing for now and the colonoscopy will tell more..

I’m a 28 year old female.. no family history of Crohn’s or IBD.  Anyone else with a similar story-ish?

I was just diagnosed with UC March 26. I had these sypmtoms:
fever
severe fatigue
joint pain
no appetite
diarrhea
headaches/migranes
stuffy nose
weight loss
and bad taste in mouth
I had just come off the flu and sinus infection, got better from those, then all of the above happened within two days. Thought it was a problem with my gut flora or just not totally well from flu. Went back to dock several times, took all kinds of tests, etc. Ended up having a colonoscopy and upper GI scope. Diagnosis: Universal Ulcerative Colitis.
Crohn's and UC are autoimmune diseases. My first move was to go on the AIP (autoimmune protocol diet) diet, take a good probiotic (my dog recommended VSL#3) and make sure I take my CBD oil with .3%THC. The doc put me on prednisone for a month and a prescription type Nexium or 12 weeks. Almost done with the steroid (3 more days). After a week off steroids I will be doing a food sensitivity test (by Oxford Biomedical) to see what foods cause me inflammation and to eliminate those from my diet. Then start to reintroduce the ones that don't and see how my body reacts.
Hope this helps in some way. Keep us posted.
