Advice with bleeding

Could really do with some advice for my 14 year old son. Diagnosed with UC 6 months ago and Currently takes 4.8g octasa. Original symptoms were chronic fatigue, abdominal pain and evertually passing bloody stools. Symptoms have improved but he still passes blood in his stool on occasion every other week. Is this really ok? Surely passing any blood is a sign of inflammation and that the octasa isn’t working well enough? Or is this acceptable? Just don’t know enough and dr not very talkative! Any info appreciated

Have some bloodwork done .  That’s how I found out I was severely anemic. At first they gave me iron infusion but later blood transfusions.  Five pints the first time 23 pints overall.

Hello, my 7 year old was diagnosed with UC.  He is on medication and has had bloody stools.  We have found that his diet dictates the amount.  We have started giving him a more bland diet in order to give his colon a rest.  If your doctor is not helpful, and depending on your situation it may be easy for me to say, but to look for a new one or a pediatric GI.

My kid's teacher had a hard time believing there was a problem since my kid didn't "look" sick.  Good luck!
