Waiting to be diagnosed

Hey guys! Thank the heavens something like this exists because I have not felt so lost and confused in the longest time. I don't want to make this long so let me sum things up.
I am 25 years old, never had stomach problems in my life until 2 weeks ago, and waiting on a diagnosis.
Basically this all started NYE when I started to feel nausous and have diarrhea. The following day my pain started higher in my abdomen and by friday the pain had gotten worse and moved lower near my appendix. I decided to take a trip to the ER to rule out appendicits or a ovarian cyst that had ruptured. They ran bloodwork and everything came back normal as well as a CT scan.
The CT showed inflammation in my colon and the ER doctor said its possible i could have colitis or chrons. I was shocked to hear this as like I said never had any issues in the past with my stomach.
I was given a short burst of prednisone (5mg super small) and within a day the pain started to get better and now all I really have is dull feeling on my right abdomen. I am due for a colonscopy at the end of this month hopefully, but I am so nervous. I don't want to have to deal with this for the rest of my life and in fear of being in that awful pain again. Is there any advice to ease my mind through this limbo stage I am in? Or even just to talk to someone who had once been in my situation would be awesome!

Thank you!

Jax.

I personally was diagnosed late August 2019, and I felt the same way in regards to not wanting to deal with Crohn's and Colitis for the rest of my life (I have both... yay!), but honestly after getting over the innitial shock it isn't that bad. Yah there are medications, I myself am on humera, and yah there is a strict diet, but it can be fun to experiment with food and figure out a new way to handle being sick, now that I am learning how to handle it. I personally found, as a 20 year old in college, that at first there is a lot to "adjust to"; learning patterns in how you feel, signs for triggers and flares, and finding a way for it to fit into your lifestyle. But it isn't something to look at as dealing for the rest of your life. Take it day by day, make the most out of it because as long as you are working with the right doctors, there shouldn't be anything to worry about. A big worry I had after being diagnosed was finding food I can actually eat, and looking at options I have since found, I can safely say there is more to eat out there than I first thought. My personal favorite food store for my low residue diet is Woodmans, they have everything from cereals, mac and cheese, desserts, waffles/ pancakes, chicken nuggets, etc.
