Newly diagnosed, saying hi

Sun, June 28, 2020 11:41 AM

I was recently diagnosed with IBD, most likely UC. Was seeing lots of blood with/without stool, prednisone + mesalamine has been getting it under control, though not as fast as my doctor expected based on visible severity from  the colonoscopy.

All in all doing relatively well, and feel for everyone with more severe symptoms.

I've also made the conscious decision to be open about the disease from the get go, and publicaly blogged and shared on Facebook/LinkedIn about it. https://link.medium.com/rIqrJkqRG7

I manage employee benefit plans for a living, so happy to try to help if anyone has insurance type questions.

Good luck! I have had UC for about 8 years and was very embarrassed and didn't speak much of it for years. Good for you for being open from the get go, it will make things easier for you.
