9 months into diagnosis, still trying to make sense of things... our 14-year old boy was simultaneously diagnosed with Crohn's and Eosinophilic Esophagitis. He had mild Crohn's symptoms, but it was his slowed growth that got us to the doctor, to the calprotectin test and bloodwork, to colonscopy/endoscopy, where Crohn's was confirmed and EoE (something we never even heard of) was noted. 3 top notch intstitutions - 3 different opinions for the treatment path.
1. we tried diet / supplements - calprotectin test did not show improvement
2. we tried 5-ASA + swallowed steroid for EoE - calprotectin test showed small improvement
3. now we are being told Humira or immunomodulators like 6-MP
Looking for parents with similar journey - what worked / suggestions? We have a mild/moderate situation we don't want to turn into surgery or allow to become severe. THANK YOU in advance for sharing your thoughts / experience / data references!!!
