Remicade dosage

Thu, February 24, 2022 6:27 PM

I've had moderate to severe Crohn's for 46 years.  I've been on Remicade since 1999.  It has basically given me my life back!  I started on every 8 weeks then to every 6 weeks after about 12 years as my levels were not what they should be, then to every 4 weeks just last year with NO antibodies.   My insurance is now denying my coverage for Remicade stating that the dosage I'm taking is not the FDA standard dose.  I have searched this question and answer section and I have found some patients on a every 4 week dose so I know I'm not the only one that this dosage works for.  How do I go about proving to my insurance company that I need this medication at this dosage?  And would another biologic work as well at a dose that is considered "fda approved"?  I'm working with my doctor to appeal but wanted another opinion.  Thank you!

Thank you for posting your experience.  I unfortunately don't have any information for you but am curious what you find out.  My daughter just started with Remicade and is doing very well with the drug.  There must be others with your same experience.
