I am also newly diagnosed. I was put on Inflectra and found out it was doing nothing. I was just put on Stelara two weeks ago, (praying it works.) I am also dealing with a crazy amount of hair loss. I thought it was originally from the methotrexate that I had to take for the Inflectra but it's been a month now of not being on it and my hair is still falling out at an alarming rate.

Hi ghand17, sorry to hear that you're going through some difficulties.

I am currently on Skyrizi. I was on Humira for 2 years before that failed. I switched to Stelara and Entyvio and both of those showed very little benefit. I ended up having to get surgery.

I am now on Skyrizi and finished the 3rd infusion and should be getting my first "On-body" injection this upcoming Saturday. Of course, everyone's experience is so different, but Skyrizi does seem to be working for me up to this point.

I have gained back a significant amount of weight that I have lost, my bowel movements are basically down to once per day, and my abdominal pains have essentially disappeared.

You have some familiarity with biologics since you seem to have used some in the past. Skyrizi is nothing different really. I also didn't experience any significant side effects either, other than tiredness and headaches for a few days after the infusion. The "On-Body" Injector seems to be a little different from some of the other subcutnaeous injections that I am used to, but they Abbvie has an excellent video on how to make use of the application and, if needed, a nurse ambassador can come out to help assist you on your first application.

If you have any other questions regarding Skyrizi, let me know. Everyone's experience is different, so please take mine with a grain of salt, but I can say that you have nothing to fear and any significant questions/concerns you have should always be discussed with your physician.

In regards to the hairloss, I have also experienced some difficulties with random splotches of baldness. It appears to have stopped and I am not entirely sure when it began. I am hoping it grows back in time.

I was diagnosed a couple of years ago but did not start medicine. I got covid or another virus this summer and it triggered a very very bad flare. I ended up losing 30 lb because I couldn't eat and my hair has been falling out in an alarming rate ever since. My calprotectin numbers were over 3500. I'm scheduled to start Stelara next week and I'm scared to death. I'll let you know if my hair starts falling out even worse after the medicine.
