Positive qfit

Sun, August 13, 2023 6:33 AM

Hi I have been experiencing upper abdominal pain for about 6 weeks now and have had many blood and stool tests carried out. I have always suspected I may suffer with Crohn's as my brother has it and my mum has a related disease. Myself, my dad and my brother also have severe psoriasis which I've only just discovered can be linked also. I've always experienced lower abdominal pain, bouts of diarrhoea or constipation, mucous in stools or just mucous when I feel I need to go. As well as bloating after almost any food, even a cup of tea! I had a call from my doctor to say that all tests results including the fecal calprotectin were normal, however the qfit (occult blood in stool) came back positive and they need to refer me on a suspected cancer referral. I am really hoping that someone has had the same but upon further investigation found it to be Crohn's or similar and not bowel cancer. I am really worried now, cancer hadn't even crossed my mind but now I can't see how it can be Crohn's with a normal calprotectin level
