CBD and Ulcerative Colitis

Mon, January 22, 2018 5:20 PM

I posted on this board before regarding my 16, now 17 year old daughter who was diagnosed with UCD about 4 years ago.  I said I would post the results, so here it is.

A back ground little info

No treatments have been working on her.  She has often missed school or come home early due to stomach issues.   She had constant bleeding and really bad pain.  We were unable to go on family trips if they were over 30 minutes away. Her treatments included Steroids  and several other medications.  Our next steps were Remicade or Humera.   It is so difficult to watch your child go through this and not knowing who to trust.  Do I trust the doctors, the pharmaceutical companies or just go with my own intuition.

Here is what we tried!

This was our last ditch effort before the infusion drug.

We put her on a high dosage of CBD + THC Suppositories and then CBD + THC drops.   We got a Doctor from University of San Francisco (USF) who gave us a letter and is monitoring her on the CBD treatment.  He could not give us dosages but he would monitor her.

The first night she took the suppository, she slept through the night.  Even though she still had pain, it gradually got better and a month and a half later she thinks it is in remission.  We still have an appointment with her UC Davis GI doctor to verify!  But wow a great outcome so far.  I can actually say it was the cannabis that has helped her.  She also had no side effects!! (Very Important)

As per her UCD doctor I was able to keep her on her current medications while trying the CBD and THC.

I am writing a paper with detailed information of Dosages and other relevant information if you all are interested just contacts me.

Those of you who are weary of Cannabis, I was in the same boat.  I never smoked it and was always a skeptic.  When your child has no good alternatives I figured, Can’t hurt!   I did a lot of research but none really gave information understood by the average parent and the dosages, brand or type were not clearly defined.  <

Hello, friends! You definitely need to start your cannabis study by trying a citrus haze strain https://westcoastsupply.cc/product/citrus-haze/ . Thanks to this strain , I found a great solution to my problems with lack of appetite and bad mood. Be sure to take note of the westcoastsupply online store because it will be your cool guide to the world of weed.

Guys, can I join your discussion? By the way, I can say with confidence that cannabis is the best product for relaxation, so I also started using it myself. As a result, I also advise you to try consuming cbd from this source https://www.cornbreadhemp.com/cbd-oil-show-on-drug-test/ where there is all the information about the type of this cbd product. Therefore, you can also see this if you want to find a good treatment for yourself.

The FDA does not sanction the use of CBD oil for ulcerative colitis, although very limited research suggests it may be helpful for symptom relief. Due to CBD's potential side effects, the FDA recommends people consult a doctor before taking products containing this ingredient. I have been using CBD oil from https://getcbdinfusion.com/, and I can feel the difference and effects are good on me.

CBD is best its really depeds on your preference. all its product are organic. this product made both of oil and gummy. Gummies are best bet for delicious flavour. In starting, start with half or justone full seving dose per day. for health and wellness this is a "low and slow" mantra.

Hi, how is your daughter doing now? Is she feeling well? I really hope she is because I know that ulcerative colitis can be very uncomfortable and painful. I found out that CBD works very well in treating almost all types of pain — including external and internal pain. I greatly recommend you to give your daughter CBD products as they are scientifically proven to be quite effective in treating the symptoms numerous diseases and disorders. Hello. i am in the same boat w my 17 yo son.  He was diagnosed w IBD (Proctosigmoiditis) in March of 2019. His symptoms are down to diarrhea 2-3 times a day and can't keep weight on. Hard for a teenage kid who stopped growing around 13 because of this earned stomach thing. He takes mesalamine 2.4 mg morning and bedtime and also the suppositories.  I am starting him on CBD. I bought it from a local feed store where I buy it for my dog. We give it to our dog to stop his seizures and it works perfectly on him. I had heard about cbd for IBD and so I asked the feed store owner what he thought about it for people. He smiled and handed me a bottle of 25 mg full spectrum hemp extract. This is a new product they just started produci for use on humans. It's made by Super Snouts Hemp Co. "Derived from Organic, GMO Free, THC Free, Colorado Grown Hemp. Grown and extracted in the USA. i will repost when I actually convince him to try it. Also checking when the best time for him to do it so it has the most beneficial effect because of the mesalamine.

Hello,
Im so thankful to God I came across your page. My 7 year old son has been recently diagnosed with UC. He just started taking a mild like drug called Balsalazide. It’s a huge pill that he can’t swallow so I can to put it in juice for him to drink (3 times a day). I honestly don’t think it’s workinf. He is still having bloody stools and has pain every time he eats anything. We’ve cut back on all foods high in fiber but his GI Specialist keeps telling me it’s not his diet. I beg to differ!!! I feel like my world has been flipped upside down - what steps would you recommend we take? I am dreading the other drugs they have suggested, such as the ones you’ve mentioned. Should I go to a dispensary for the CBD oil?

Cannabis infused tea are also effective especially when it comes to intestinal problems unlike smoking’s quick reaction time, cannabis-infused teas have a longer build due to the digestive tract’s absorption of the liquid’s active ingredients. It is beneficial on treating chronic illnesses like this https://www.gyo.green/gyo-seedbank-cinderella-99-bst-c99-f.html. It has a lot of medical uses especially on some chronic illnesses and helps relieves pain and mood swings

I was just diagnosed with Crohns in May of this year, was prescribed Pentasa and I only lasted a month on it before the side effects became too severe. I have been on Lialda since and while it helped, I still had more bad days than good days. I started taking CBD oil in capsule form in September, and can definitely say it has been a huge improvement:
- went from taking tylenol twice a day between February and September, to only when I've been exercising.
- back pain, joint pain and neck pain is almost gone
- typically do not have diarhea or stomach pain, maybe once a week for both
- I have been able to reintroduce some foods, such as tomato, popcorn, more cooked veggies, and chocolate

I take the 35 mg capsules from Charlotte's Web (only posting the name so people can research the product). It happens to be hemp based with no THC. After some trial and error, I take one capsule in the morning with my breakfast, and any allergy meds or whatever else, and then I take one capsule at night two hours after taking my Lialda. It is important to have some time in between the CBD oil and after extended time release drug you take, since it can slow your digestion. The person I spoke to at the store I bought my CBD oil specifically stated that CBD oil should not be taken at the same time as anything you might take for depression, anxiety, heart issues, etc. After trial and error I found that taking it after the Lialda meant I felt much better.

I know CBD Oil is not for everyone, and I had never smoked or taken an edible prior to researching whether it could help with Crohn's. I can understand some trepidation in trying it, but I can say it has helped enormously. To the point where I went the entire month of November having not called out sick from work.

Hello!

I have been in and out of the hospital this entire year aince year since giving birth to my son in March. You name it - we’ve tried it. I can’t work, I can barely leave the house. I go to the bathroom roughly 30-40 times a day. 19 blood transfusions, I mean, I’m sure this is all familiar.

could you please share the dose levels and how you introduced it? I’ve smoked before but since having my son I’m hesitant and don’t want to be high around him.

Anything you can share would be SO greatly appreciated! Thank you!!!

I have read many articles about medical marijuana and how it can help you in terms of chronic pain, bone injuries, eating disorder/anorexia, anxiety disorders and panic attacks, inflammation, even cancer and a lot more. Like this article about a marijuana strain from https://www.gyo.green/ . Cbd and thc are also new to me and I don't even smoke. If this is true I cant find any solid conclusive evidence that speaks to its efficacy.

Could you provide me with your information about dosage with CBD oil?  I am currently on Mesalamine and am having neck pain, hand pain and sweating.

I was diagnosed in July, 2018.  I am not impressed with the medicine as I still have stools at least twice in a day.  I find that milk products as well as nuts bother me.

Thank you, Deb

I was diagnosed with UC in 2007, I have tried a wide range of medications, some.of wich nearly killed me, or caused me to attempt to kill my self. Once I started smoking pot, I was able to stop taking all medications, I can eat more, I occasionally suffer from pain, but nothing too serious. I can smoke a small joint and be good for around 8hrs or so. Also keep a food journal if you don't already, record every thing she eats and drinks and at what time. That will make it easier to find trigger foods.

I'm interested in hearing more.  My daughter continues to miss alot of school.  My daughter was diagnosed 2+ years ago.  She seems to have just as much trouble with side effects from medications as the disease itself.  She can no longer use Remicade and she is having random stomach pain and lots of fatigue while on Entyvio.

Hi mskelly and Scottflanagan3.

I just bought some CBD oil yesterday and tried it for the first time. I have a very moderate case of Crohn's but over the past week have not felt 100% digestively: bloated, gassy, crampy, etc. After 7 drops and 20 minutes, I felt the best I've felt all week. No symptoms.

Scott, to answer your question, I got the CBD drops at my local health food store. They sell them in drops, pills and a spray. There were two different formulas, one more for anxiety and stress, the other more for pain and inflammation. There is unflavored and peppermint - I got the peppermint and it tastes pretty much just like Jr. Mints. You may have to ask someone to help you - at my store, they keep the actual product in the back of house and a store person had to get it for me and then escort me to the register. I got ID'ed too, but the fact that they sold it to me means that it's legal (this is a fairly big name brand chain store), and the bottle calls it a dietary supplement.

I have tried cannabis before, but I did not like the THC - it made my heart race and made me paranoid. The CBD oil, on the other hand, didn't mess with my head at all. I had my wits about me and the only difference I felt after taking it was my stomach cramps go away.

I would definitely recommend, and hope this helps you and others! Would be happy to share more information. :)

Does your daughter still continue to show good results? I’m so unfamiliar with CBD and THC. I’m 34 and have never done a drug in my life, but I would gladly try this over an infusion drug, which is basically my next step as well. Where did you find these suppositories and drops? I’m in MN so not sure they have these available everywhere.

Thanks for the info!
