Has anyone else’s child been on Entyvio? I’m concerned about putting my son on a medicine that hasn’t been FDA approved for pediatrics. He has to come off Remicade and similar drugs due to issues with a suppressed immune system. His GI feels Entyvio would be the best option given it targets the gut instead of the entire system.
I know they are working on getting it approved and it looks like results have been good overall for adults, but it’s still scary putting him on such a new medication.

I am an adult, but I can at least say that this drug was helpful to me, for about 1.5 years. Other patients have seen longer remission from the treatments. I had no side effects at all that I was aware of. If the trials have been encouraging for children so far, I would lobby with your doctors for an appeal to the powers that be to approve it for your son. It's worth a shot.

My 12 year old son is on Entyvio. He's having his 5th infusion this week. Unfortunately, we haven't had luck w/ anything so far - Pentasa, Mesalamine, 6-MP, Remicade, Prednisone - which is why we're on this path. He doesn't appear to be responding to Entyvio either so we're looking at surgical options.
