Lialda vs. Generic Lialda

Tue, March 26, 2019 7:10 PM

I have tried going from Lialda 1.2M (x2 pills per day) as maintenance to same dose of generic formula and I get minor flare up symptoms. My insurance does not cover name brand Lialda, only generic. I have tried this twice over last 3 years and I have to go back to name brand Lialda. Does anyone know why that would be the case? I am going to try increasing dose of generic from 2 pills per day to 4 pills per day. Does anyone have any information on this issue?

Same thing here, I have tried a generic called Mesacol, and it's just not the same. even though it says it is. My doc told me to go back to brand name Lialda, and I've had to have it shipped from the U.S. to my country of residence every 3 months. It's a hassle, but I don't have another option.

Same issue for me. Generic does NOT work the same. It has to be in the formulation.
