Switching from Budesonide to Stelara - need reassurance

Tue, November 05, 2019 12:09 AM

I have been on Budesonide (entocort) for about 2 and 1/2 years already for mild to moderate Crohn's,  However, my GI doctor feels that I need to step up to biologics as the inflammation has not disappeared and in fact there is evidence of more.
I will be starting on Stelara at the end of November and am rather frightened by the prospect of it because of possible side effects.  I have had Crohn's for almost 20 years but was not diagnosed properly until just over 3 years ago and hence have been on entocort for the better part of that time.  While I am relatively stable as I said, my doctor wants to attack the inflammation sites and get rid of it.
Please let me know your experiences with Stelara, how you felt/feel on it; possible side effects you might have experenced and any other useful information you have for me.
Payment is not a problem as here in Canada a combination of the government funding and my insurance as a retired teacher will cover it fully.   Thanks!!
