Re-starting Entyvio / Vedolizumab

Sun, November 10, 2019 6:06 PM

Hello,

Does anyone know about the success rates of re-starting entyvio after stopping for a while?

I have been on Entyvio for about 2.5 years, and in remission. My GP is saying that because I now present no symptoms, they want me to stop taking the Entyvio (as it is very expensive for the NHS!?!) and see if i can maintain remission with the other drugs i am taking (azothioprene / allopurinol / mesalamine).

I recall my first dr saying biologics have a much lower success rate the second time round, as the body can form resistance to the drug, but i can't find any info on this with regards to entyvio.

Does anyone know or have any experience of starting it, stopping it, and re-starting it? Is it safe / effective?

Thanks!

J.
