Remicade/Infliximab Concerns for Women over 50

Wed, August 12, 2020 11:03 AM

I've battled UC for 11 years and after a major flareup that landed me in the hospital for 10 days, I started Remicade last June.  Almost immediatley, I encountered extreme joint pain but Doctors ignored my concerns.  In December, my eye started swelling during the infusion so at Doctors request, I immediatley stopped treatments.  Thank goodness - all of my joint pain went away almost immediately.  However... I went for my annual female exam last week and I learned that my mammogram results are abnormal and my pap smear are abnormal.  Both require further testing... breast cancer and cervix cancer are very real concerns for me now.  I'm 54 years old and I've never had a scare like this before.  Is this coincidental???  I think not...   After doing some significant research, I highly suggest women of my age who have reached menopause seriosuly consider other alternatives of treatment before proceeding with Remicade/Inflimab treatments.   Prayer Warriors - I would appreciate all prayers and good vibes sent my way that I am able to overcome these new medical concerns.  Thank you!
