Stricture symptoms Hang in there.  Crohns is my illness.  Had a stricture in 2008.  Tried to increase my medication and did not work. It was caused by scar tissue that formed over years of inflammation.  The head of Surgery performed my resection using my belly button and two small holes.  No major incisions.  Recovery took three weeks.  My symptoms were severe pain in my lower right quadrant each time I ate.  Surgery was the best option for me, please try everything you feel is right before having surgery but it was the best decision for me.  Im two years out and have "regular" crohns discomfort.

Good luck and get help.

Reid,

How much glutamine did you take a day?  How much colloidal silver?  I have two strictures which give me trouble daily!  I also take boswellia for inflammation.....

Thanks,

Roxanne

I was so scared of trying the foods after my partial bowel obstructions that I took the Glutamine for 6 months before I reintroduce the foods that would hurt me.

With THC Oil and Colloidal Silver I felt an overnight change and confirmed it a couple weeks later when I ate tons of strawberries and raspberries with no pain.

Reid- How long did it take for you to notice improvement with both treatments?

Stricture symptoms This reply is for everyone above.

There are several ways you can heal your scar tissue.

I used to get excruciating pains due to strictures (confirmed w/ a CT Scan) and had to eliminate foods like pepper, carrots, lettuce, spaghetti squash and strawberries.

My naturopath recommended to take Glutamine. I did this for several months and when I ate those foods again, the pain was significantly reduced, but not gone completely.

Next I tried both THC Oil (illegal) and Colloidal Silver (demonized by conventional medicine and media) and now I am able to eat all those foods listed above and more without any pain. Its hard for me to believe sometimes because I was looking at either starving myself or having surgery.

There is also a physical therapy which has been shown to dissolve the fibrous scar tissue.

I hope this info helps you.

I am 36 and was diagnosed in Feb of this year with Crohns. I have had symptoms and was mis/not diagnosed for about 7 years. I have been hospitalized three times with bowel obstructions due to the scar tissue causing strictures. I have been tried on several different meds but the combination of Pentasa and Entocort seems to work best for me right now. I am scheduled to have a resection on Dec 16. My doctor says that things wont ever get much better until all the scarred tissue is removed since it cannot be "healed". Good luck!!!

You are not alone.  I had a stricture from scar tissue.  I am now very proactive in keeping inflammation down and staying healthy.  Strictures are horrible.  I lost a lot of weight.  I could not eat and when I did, well, I lost it.  Make sure your doc checks your nutritional levels.  My proteins were dangerously low.
