Legumes: Ok or not?

Thu, June 12, 2008 12:00 AM

Hi all,

I've been mostly vegetarian for many years now and was recently diagnosed with ulcerative colitis. I'm only a few weeks out of hospital (first flare treatment) and am still on a low residue diet.

I'd love to get back to hummous ;) but I've seen mixed reviews on whether or not legumes (skins plucked and soaked to remove gassiness) are appropriate for a low residue diet.

Anyone have experience with this?

Hi,

I have UC as well.  I have read several different opinions on Legumes and i think it is just what your body can tolerate or not.  I myself have found that i cannot tolerate any form of Legumes no matter how you prepare them before eating.  But i have also read many items where people can eat them just fine with UC.
