Hello, hello.
Even if your IBD doesn't let you eat sugar, it's a good idea to avoid it as often as possible. Sugar changes your body chemistry... your balance of calcium and phosphorus, I believe... and thus robs the calcium from your bones from the inside. That's what the big deal is about candy rotting your teeth out. The mal-absorption IBD causes gives us a higher risk for osteoporosis, so I try using dark liquid stevia when I'm craving sweetness.
Also, sugar causes an inflammatory effect in the body, so it's something worth avoiding especially when you have an inflammatory disease. I think the inflammatory response in this case is caused by a disruption of your equilibrium via blood sugar. Learning the IF rating of foods is something that helped me a lot. Also, if you don't like stevia, agave nectar causes your blood sugar to rise in a less rapid way, but still changes the body's balance, so you're still risking calcium depletion. And just a random note: baked (or plain and raw) potatoes have about the same effect as sugar does on BS. That one came as a surprise to me.
Do lots of research! There's so much to know about food and it does make a difference.
Take care and good luck.

everyone is different, so it's hard to say. my dad was talking to a lady in the hospital wiating room once that said her daughter (who had crohn's) got sick if she ate something that had been microwaved. i can't eat bagels, but my mom (who has colitis) can no problem. it's best to ask your doctor to see what's right for you. personally, i usually bring snacks with me wherever i go just in case :)
I have sensura mio deep convex pouch sets that I c....
