Hello everyone, my name is Pam and my Mom has just been diagnosed with microscopic cloitis. She has been put on Asacol HD and Prevalite powder. However she has just started these new meds only 11 days ago. The info we have about these meds says that it can take up to 3 weeks to notice any changes, and being the humans that we are, we want instant gratification. At this point I do not know how to help her and would be grateful for any comments on how to handle this. Anything about foods that should be avoided, different meds, etc. Sincere thanks!!!!!!!

i definitely recommend the book the previous post listed as well as any others available at your local library. remember, knowledge is power. as for foods, many people use the specific carb diet and have benefitted tremendously. my daughter has been on a low fiber/ low residue diet and is *** well too (knock on wood). starting a food diary will help her determine what foods are "triggers" for her. unfortunately, no two people are the same, so they are different for everyone. she is very lucky to have such a caring daughter. god bless.
