Hello! I'm 22 and not exactly ready to get pregnant yet, but I would like to start by the time I'm 27. However, I'm very scared of contracting a life threatening infection since I seem to catch things easily (but I always get over my infections/illnesses within a week or so). Does anyone else deal with these feelings or have any advice? Thank you!
lorencaitI am wondering what meds they had you on. I am on remicade and methotrexate. I know I can't have a baby while on methotrexate but I am on my to remission. I have heard conflicting opinions on whether it is safe to be on remicade while pregnant. I am 29 and hoping to start trying once I am in remission. Just curious if you were on remicade and took it while pregnant or know someone who has?

I'm currently on my second pregnancy. Luckily, I have a mild case of Crohn's colitis and remained in remission during the first pregnancy, and so far I'm doing good this time around. The only infection I have dealt with is a UTI near the end of my first pregnancy. So, I don't know think you will have too much to worry about as long as you follow doctor's orders. And if you do end up with an infection of some sort, your OB will most likely catch it early. They test for everything imaginable. It's totally normal to have lots of questions, so be sure to ask your OB and GI doctors anything that comes to mind. Best of luck when the time comes!
