Colectomy and pregnancy

Tue, December 20, 2016 12:41 PM

I was diagnosed with ulcerative colitis in 1999 when I was 12 years old and I had a colectomy in 2010. I do not have a colostomy bag but I have a j-pouch. I got pregnant last year my son is now almost a year old. When I was about four months pregnant I started having really intense rectal pain and now a year later I still have it and have had 3 surgeries on my rectum for it which has not helped. My doctors can't find out what is causing it and I never had this problem until I got pregnant. Has anyone else experienced this or something like it? The pain is absolutely ruining my life. I lost my job and I am extremely limited on things that I can do when it comes to being active. I want to be able to do things with my son and my family without being impeded by pain. Ulcerative colitis did that to me for 15 years and I don't want this to take over my life also.

Have you been checked for fistulas? I have a bunch and the are awful.  Had to have drains put in, and need to have another installed.
