Has anyone had a successful pregnancy after surgery? I've had Crohn's since 1996. I have a beautiful four year old daughter, but miscarried our second child in March. A colonoscopy in April revealed a mass with abnormal biopsies, and dysplasia in other areas in my colon, so I had a colectomy on May 29th. We really want a second child. Any other experiences out there?

I haven't been on this site for 5 years, since before I had my baby with the same question! Yes, I had a resection - almost all of my large intestine and I had to wait a year & 1/2 before trying to get pregnant to give myself time to heal and not hurt the scarring. I was 42 when I gave birth to a beautiful healthy girl and I never felt better than when I was pregnant...........It was almost as if I didn't have Crohn's at all............I don't know if it was the prenatal vitamins or what, but never give up your dream, it was so worth it. Good luck to you.

That's funny, I just replied to your other post in the Dealing With Surgery forum. I'm surprised at how little information there seems to be about Crohn's, medications and pregnancy. My GI couldn't tell me much at all. There's hardly anything online, either. However, he was able to refer me to a specialist who apparently is well known and has an interest in the subject. I'm seeing her in mid-July and can relay what she says, if it's helpful. I guess we just have to get information wherever we can.
Are you worried about scar tissue in the abdomen? Do you know of anything to reduce or prevent it? I just need an egg or two to be able to get through!

I was also wondering the same thing. I also have a 4 year old. Just had a colectomy on May. We would like to have another child, but I guess I'm a litte worried too! My doctor wants to put me back on Humira. Has anyone been on Humira suring pregnancy?
