Ok, so I'm new to UC, am still waiting to see my GI, and have had yet another issue start up. Yesterday I noticed painful ulcers "down there", saw my PCP today, and it's herpes. I've been married for 10yrs, only one partner prior to that, and neither my husband or myself have ever had any issues. Apparently the herpes virus can remain dormant for decades before an outbreak, and my pcp thinks that the UC made it show up now. Anybody else have this problem?

About three years ago I was putting medicine on my son's face who had a breakout of Herpes Simplex 1 (fever blisters) - I did not realize I had an open sore on my finger nad that virus went into my index finger. It took a week and for me to get extremely ill for the docs to realize I had a herpetic whitlow (look it up) - it is similar to shingles in that it now lies dormant in the nerve in my wrist on right hand and flares up on that same index finger from time to time. I am sure the Crohn's will make that worse.

I was diagnosed with shingles last week (symptoms were also "down there"). The doc thinks it is because of the high dose of Prednisone I was on for weeks. Shingles and herpes are related and both can stay dormant in your body for years. I wouldn't jump to any conclusions about your husband! (Although I also thought what I had was herpes before the test results came back and I, as politely as I could, did ask my husband if he has had any other partners since we have been together).

The question is did your hubby mess around with someone else. Herpes can only be contracted from another individual. Think about it
Looking to see if anyone else is dealing with li....
