UC & Skin Breakouts

Sun, September 20, 2009 12:02 PM

I am recovering from a sever flare, months on steroids and now I am taking 175mg of imuran daily. The imuran has helped, and I have not had a problem since I've started taking it, but I am wondering if it might be responsible for my horrible breakouts.

While on steroids I broke out constantly, and my face looked like I was going through a bad puberty!  I’ve never had “great” skin, but I’ve had it under control for years now. However, even after being off of the steroids for a few months, my skin remains problematic. I am making an appointment with a dermatologist but was wondering if anyone has had experience with bad skin / UC / imuran mix. And if so, any suggestions?

Thanks!

In addition to Chron's, I have Grover's disease, which is another autoimmune disorder. Grover's causes very itchy blotchy skin, and now a combination of the mesalimine (Apriso) that I am taking and the Grover's is causing my hair to fall out.

Definitely related to abdominal pain.

I can alwas tell when I'm about to have a UC flare by the way my skin is changing. A bad flare is always preceded by a bad breakout strange but true.
