I to have problems just before and during my periods with my crohns. I go into a small flare just before my period starts and I get extremally bad cramps during my period and tylenol and midol just dont help ,its so bad i cant hardly do anything the first couple days of my period.I finally went to my OB/Gyno doc and he ran a few tests and i have a appt with him after the new year he said maybe one of my opions is maybe a hysto but I really dont want that since i'm still young but I'm tired of hurting and going into a flare at that time of the month .

Yep But for me the I was also diagnosed with endo you will be shocked to know how similiar it is, heres a link http://www.endo-resolved.com/symptoms.html I've had this for 16 years and my best time was the first few days after my period( symptons at their weakest) and it was worst right befor I started and the first couple days on my period. A few of the symptons in your abdominal cavity are nasea, vomitting, bloody stools, diarreaha and or constipation (sorry about the spelling) saveare gastroinstetinal pain and so on!! Check this link out not sure if it will help you but it explained allot including why i wasnt responding to my meds after adding the treatment for endo I have been flare free for 3 weeks and it has only gotten better, i still take my other meds they just work together!

Thank you all for your replies, it is much appreciated. I have had Crohn's for 3 years and have developed symptoms when I start ovulating through my cycle only this year.
It has been difficult to determine the difference between Crohn's and menstrual pain during times in my cycle when it could be either causing the cramps and discomfort. So my question was geared more towards if anyone else finds this happening to them and less for pain management. I take tylenol and midol which help make the pain managable.
Thanks again and everyone feel well!

My daughter is new to this disease, but she will have a flare for a couple days when she has her periods. It happens about every other month. So far Immodium helps so she can usually make it thru school. She just takes Tylenol for any other discomfort. We just thought is was caused by hormone changes, but it doesn't look like that is the reason. Good luck.

I always have a worse time the first few days my period starts. I also get migraines during ovulation and my period. And I can't take pain medication because I am afraid that will do more damage inside than good. So I just put up and deal and in a few days I get better and get back to 'normal' if there is such a thing with Crohn's.
Looking to see if anyone else is dealing with li....
