I was diagnosed at 17 with Ulcerative Colitis, stage I by a Center in Pensacola, Florida under health insurance. The doctors were in disbelief that I had any complications of Ulcerative Colitis. For years the doctors had claimed that the pain had to do with urology and severe kidney infections. The medications that they always had me take would briefly take the pain away and than with inadequate nutrition and more of their medication my pain increased into the next stage of having an IBS. The doctors scheduled me for an ultrasound and a barium enyma, while the nurses that were assisting kept making snare comments towards the testing that I was being put through. I had to yell at the doctor to go look in the toilet for him to actually believe that I had any sort of cramping in my smaller intestines with having a mucous and bloody stool. The doctors finally decided to have me undergo a coloscopy where they detected that I had Ulcerative Colitis in the first stage. The doctors only advice to me was too eliminate all stress in my life and follow a bland diet. Years later, I am still dealing with the pain and I am unable to obtain proper medical treatment for my disease.
