Going to be married at the end of October and we want to start trying to have kiddos. This will be our first and I've been in remission for several years now so onthat front we're good. Our biggest concern is the medication I'll be on while pregnant. Humira is supposedly the safest and what's been recommended so that's what we've been going with, but I was wondering if any of you in the know have any info we should know. Anything is appreciated!
Thank you,
Bea

I have had two pregnancies on Imuran (not on Humira). I was very healthy with both pregnancies and have amazingly healthy kids. One interesting fact, when I went through my first pregnancy, I was told I wouldn't be able to breast feed because of the medication. When I went through my second pregnancy two years later, research had indicated it was ok to breast feed on Imuran. I personally chose not to breast feed with the second baby, but this might be good to know.

HI
I am currently on humira and imuran.
All the research i have done seems to also say Humira is the safest. (i am not a doctor though).
Both my general doc and gastro doc said if i get pregnant then i should stay on both meds.
There is a company in the USA (i am canadian) called OTIS and its not connected to drug companys etc.
They can send you info on any drugs and pregnacy. They also run the case studies (not drug trials) when pregnant woman take certain meds during pregnancy.
They collect the data essentially. They have the most up to date research.
I am currently trying to get pregnant and if i do i plan on registering with them to allow them to follow my case and health etc. I want to help other woman who have similar questions. I also want to help other people with crohns who want to have babies.
Anyways check it out if you want.
Or if you have any quesitons you can email me ash_halow@hotmail.com
Sometimes its just nice to know someone else in the same position.

I just went and saw my GI yesterday and my dh and I are still a couple years out from starting a family but he was telling me the main issue with IBD and pregnancy comes in when women change their medication during pregnancy or just stop taking it- gotta avoid those flares and keep baby nourished! Best of luck to you and your new family!
Looking to see if anyone else is dealing with li....
