My 16 year old son was just diagnosed with Crohn's. I am trying to find foods that will work well for him. Some info I have found online conflicts one another (e.g. some say berries in smoothies are okay while other list of safe foods say no berries at all-ever).
Any suggestions on diet, good websites and other resources?
thx so much!

Tell your son to keep a food diary of the symptoms he is having after foods he eats. This will help determine what's good to eat or not. It's difficult and all trial and error, but anything bland is usually good. Anything spicy, creamy, or heavy dipping sauce may cause symptoms to flare. Everyone is different, so it's hard to say what might be best.
My advise is that negative/positive reactions with food is a trial and error thing. Most Crohns patients develop lactose intolerance. Myself, I cant take much raw vegetables and I stay away from salads. For many years I had problems with rich foods you usually see between Thanksgiving and New Years which would cause flares. I was diagnosed with Crohns 40 years ago and have learned what foods are completely ok and what are ok in small amounts or what I must stay away from.
