Newly dx'd

Hi everyone

I have seen two GI specialists. One has done almost all the tests except for a small bowel capsule. He would not treat me until he had all the dianostics in. He told me to take immodium and gas x. I have been miserable since the first week of March. This dr's MA called me to say I have crohns though the scopes showed mild unspecified colitis. They wanted me to go into a study group but turns out because I have not taken any meds or been dx's before I did not qualify. He perscribed a med but I have not picked it up yet. It seems as harmful as the crohns. I know I cannot take pred because it will elevate my BS too high.

I went for a second opinion and this GI dr said he is not sure I have crohns and wants to do the small bowel capsule study. He gave me samples of two meds, one a probiotic and one is a med that you need to rule out renal disease first. He only saw me for about 9 minutes and did not get a complete med history. I have a history of kidney stones and diabetes. I have not taken his samples either.

I am managing with lomodal, immodium and tylenol.

I do not trust either of these GI drs. I am thinking about finding a DAN dr and doing the SCD instead of traditional medical dr.

My question is: How does the SCD work with someone with diabetes?

Hi Alan,

Thank you for the link, I will check it out. I have been hesitiant to buy the Stopping the Cycle book until I know it will work for people with diabetes. I have been staying away from simple carbs for years and trying to only eat complex carbs to manage my bs levels. I have not eaten honey since before 1995.

The pro biotic is called florastor and the med is called Asacol HD. My regular dr pulled blood today to check for renal function before I start the asacol. Though he said it would be ok to start this today. The lamodal has checked the diarrhea but I am having gut and knee pain.

I have been feeling so discourage but finding this forum is a god send. Thanks!
