Questions/help with diet

Mon, May 16, 2011 11:30 PM

My first post on this site.

Symptom free for 7 years. High stress situation triggered UC and i have been in flare for about 3 months now. Never knew much about UC but am speed learning now that i am having symptoms. Read Breaking the vicious cycle. have been loosely following the diet for about a month and a half but the past 2 weeks have been 100% and i feel worse? was 100% med free for 6 months before this and only taking 1/4 dose of my 6mp for the past 2 years (not telling my doctor because he didnt want me off it) now back on 6mp and Asacol making my own yogurt whith cultures and L bulgaricus S thermophilus and L acidophilus, I also take fish oil with breakfast and dinner. Symptoms only seem to be inflamation/bleeding, and overall i feel pretty good, but am just stuck in here not getting worse but not getting better. My question is what might i be doing wrong. What can i add/suppliment.

Don't expect to see improvement day to day. I certainly had downs as well as ups, especially in the first months and the three month flare (or other symptoms) really does seem to happen. Persevere and then look back after 3  months/six months etc and you should see real improvement. The Scd lifestyle blog describes this very well but it is difficult to comprehend and a bit demoralising at the beginning.

Reducing omega 6 is probably better than adding omega 3.

Best of luck. It s really worth the effort for all round health and not just uc.
