I have had Crohn's for 3 yrs and in the beginning I lost a lot of weight. Since the disease has caused reactive arthitis and I have been unable to work as a STNA anymore. I have gained weight. To top everything off I am on a low residue diet that seems to help but veggies and fruits are off limits while having flares. Now being on prednisone I have blown up. I am only 25 and I know that my pop addiction doesn't help but I have given up alot of foods that I love. I was wondering if anyone knows of a low residue diet that can include more veggies and fruits. I also was wondering if anyone knows any low impact exercises the can be done at home. I used run and swim but money problems has made swimming impossible especially in ohio in the winter. Thanks for any information because I know that the more I gain the worse it is on my joints.

Hi! UC'er-28+ yrs.
Canned fruits and veges, applesauce, bananas, smoothies are great and you can power them up with other things that you can tolerate. Be careful with seeds(berries)-add in other fruits as you get better. And get a good quality blender.
I have had a treadmill for forever!! The best investment ever...you can pretty much exercise anytime that is good for you even if you can't leave the house(stray too far from the bathroom)-I usually watch tv or listen to music or both. I also live where it is cold so it is also great when you can't get outside.
What to eat with IBD is a great book and I guess some other new ones. Lots of resources on internet, too. Good luck.
